We left Mataranka Homestead and quickly stopped in at Bitter Springs. This spring is also a thermal pool but not as commercialised as the one in our camp ground.
Just outside of Bitter Springs we come across these huge termite mounds. They are everywhere. We can't resist a photograph next to one.
We stopped at Woolys in Katherine to get some food supplies and then we continued along the Stuart Highway to Edith Falls. Edith Falls is located in the Katherine Gorge National Park.
The camp ground here is very secluded and grassy. Haven't had the luxury of camping on grass lately so it was a welcome change.
We quickly organised some lunch and then we headed off for a swim in the waterhole. The only one open for swimming is the upper pool which requires a 1.5km walk. All other waterholes had a possibility of crocs in them. It was a little scary walking along the pathway up to the lower pool as it was very narrow and there was dry high grass on either side of this path. We were worried about coming across snakes. Lucky us we manage to get to the pool without any injury. By the time we arrive at the waterhole we were hot and sweaty and read for a dip in the cold dark water.

Edith Falls is so beautiful. The waterfall was huge and a sight to see. We all enjoyed a swim here for the rest of the afternoon. The sun was setting so we set off back to camp before it gets dark.
Its been a great day.
