Taylah and Lilly imitating emus in Erldunda
The closer we were, the more excited we got. We couldn't wait to see Ayers Rock up close. We were so impatient that the first large mountain/rock we saw we said "look kids, there's Ayers Rock". We even told kids, "stop playing DS, theres Ayers Rock". We were all dodge on the shape of this rock but non the less we celebrated it. After a while, I said...."it looks weird", not like the pictures. No more than 30 seconds later a sign appears Mount Connor Lookout. Hilarious.
Mt Connor (I know...it looks nothing like Ayers Rock)
We continue driving along Lasseter Hwy and then finally Ayers Rock appears on the horizon. Now it looks like the pictures. It looks pretty big and we still have 30km to go. Can't wait to see it up close.
Our new home for the next 3 days is Ayers Rock Resort in Yulara. You can't see Ayers Rock from our caravan because of a large hill but you can walk up on top of the hill and see it. Ayers Rock is only a short drive away but it is over 40 degrees when we arrive and we all need to take a dip in the resort pool and cool down.
A popular thing to do here is to view Ayers Rock at sunset. We drive the short distance to the Ayers Rock sunset viewing carpark in the national park and it is packed with people and cars. We finally find a car spot and Waz jumps on the car to get some great shots of the sun setting and the colour reflection changes against the Rock itself. We got some great photos here which I would like to share.
On our way into the national park
