DAY 69 - 27/04/2010 - Yulara (Uluru), NT & Kings Canyon, NT

Sadly we were informed today that on Saturday a man, while climbing Ayers Rock, had a heart attack, fell off and died. Apparently his poor wife had watched it all from the bottom. They don't know me but my thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family. That is the 36th person to die on Ayers Rock but they haven't had a death in 10 years. This is the reason the Anungu people don't like people climbing the rock because when someone dies they have to mourn the death for a month.

We left Yulara this morning and arrived in Kings Canyon Resort after lunch sometime.

Our tv stopped working today and needs to be sent off to be repaired. Lucky it is under warranty. We have to wait when we are in a less remote area for it to be picked up by the courier.

Kings Canyon Resort is fantastic. We are set up at the back of the resort and have views of the national park. The only issue is, metres away is where the dingos hang out. All thongs and smallish items must be kept indoors because dingos like to take these. I had to shoo one away that came right up under our awning while the kids were there.

After dinner we went to the Outback BBQ Bar which is located in the resort itself. The show "The Roadies" is on tonight. Its a comedy duo that sing, play music and involve the audience in their show. The girls had a ball as they were all called up on stage to play instruments.

They even dragged Warren and I up there and involved us in their performance. I think I was the stand out performer in the family. I was pretty awesome. We had a lot of fun and it was good to get out. Its been a while since we've had a night out.

The moon was full tonight and the dingos howled all night and kept waking us up.
