DAY 59 - 17/04/2010 - The Granites, SA & Mount Barker, SA

Everyone had a late night last night socialising. The kids had their movie night. Us adults stayed up having a few drinks. Warren and Guy went down to the beach to harrass some fisherman who were catching elephant shark. We had a great night. Such a shame that it had to come to an end.

Surprisingly the girls got up early, got changed and ran down to the beach. They wanted to have one last play on the granite bolders.

Lilly took off in her pj's. Lucky one of us caught glimpse of her walking off.

We left the Granites and headed for Mount Barker where we were going to spend the night.

We stopped off for lunch at a lookout just outside of Talem Bend.

It was late in the afternoon when we arrived in Mount Barker. We wanted to visit a neighbouring town called Hahndorf and some surrounding wineries and really only had a couple of hours left before everything would be shut. We quickly unhitched our vans and headed straight for Hahndorf.

Hahndorf is such a pretty town and situated in the Adelaide Hills. The German influence is very obviouse by the design of the buildings. There is a German pub here and there are also a lot of restaurants here serving German cuisine. It appears to be a popular tourist destination.

We went to a couple of wineries for wine tasting. One of which was the Hahndorf winery. Warren and I have never been wine tasting before and we were happy to enjoy the experience with Vicky and Guy who seem to be old hands at it. We purchased ourselves a couple of bottles and headed back home.

Cheers!

A nice dinner, wine and a lot of laughter was on the cards for tonight. The park caretaker together with his Shih Tzu guard dog warned us that we were too noisy. The oldies won't be happy tomorrow. We will be the talk of the park.
