DAY 134 - 01/07/2010 - Barn Hill Station, WA & De Grey River Rest Area, WA

After breakky we start packing. When we were just about ready to go a man approached Warren and asked him if he could have our spot when we left. He and Waz got chatting about where we are from and as it turns out his daughter and sister in law were teachers in North Lakes. If thats not coincidental enough it turns out that the sister in law is Mrs Nichols. Alicia's grade 2 and 4 teacher and to boot her favourite teacher of all time. What a small world we live in and Barn Hill Station is a pretty remote place.

Off we go again. The unsealed road out of Barn Hill, we complete with ease. A makeshift grader is being used on the road this morning. Its a tractor pulling 2 large tractor tyres. It seems to have done its job.

We drive for a bit and we stop at the Sandfire Roadhouse for some lunch and a fuel top up.

Next stop Pardoo Roadhouse for their world famous (overpriced) sausage rolls, $6 a pop. Unfortunately they were all sold out.

Back on the road again and only 50km away from our next destination. The sun is making its decent and I reckon we only have about 30 min left of day light.

We arrive in De Grey River just as the sun was disappearing. Its a free stay rest area and its packed. There are little pockets of areas all along the river and it seems that there is a van in every pocket. Some look like they've been there a while. We drive up to the top level and find a spot. There are more coming in after us. The rule is to try and get to a free stay by 3ish to get a good spot or get any spot at all. It doesn't take us long to set up and within 10 minutes Warren and the girls are searching for fire wood.

Its a chilly night but our fire keeps us warm.
