Waz had the fire going and it was beautiful out there.
The girls were still in bed fast asleep and snuggled up under their blankets. We all had a fantastic sleep here.
Toast cooked on the fire and hot coffees were on the breakfast menu.
We absolutely love this place. Such a pity to leave it.
We leave the National Park and arrive in Renmark.
Morning tea on the picnic rug by the river then a quick look around town. Its very pretty here.
The P.S. Industry Paddle Steamer is docked here and the captain invites us on deck to have a look around. The paddle steamer will be celebrating 100yrs next year.
The Murray River is dotted with many house boats. One in particular belongs to an excentric local named Frank Turton who has lived on this river for many years. He has lived a very colourful life and is happy to talk about it and show it in various newspaper clippings he has on display out front of his house boat. He's also a bit of a country music singer and sells cd's from his house.
Love the clothes hoist and the herb garden.
He used to also live across the road from the Daly Waters Pub. He earnt money by making and selling wooden carved signs as captured in this photo.
He has definately lived an interesting life.
Frank Turton was also resposible in finding and relocating the Black Stump into town.
Right next to the Black Stump is also one of his other creations. "The Funny Dunny"
When a mans gotta go, hes gotta go.
Next major town we drive thru is Mildura. It is also a very neat and pretty town. Full of vinyards, orchards and parks overlooking the Murray.
We cross 2 borders and drive as far as Euston in NSW. We started the day in SA then cross into Victoria and end in NSW. We've decided today that we will not be continuing down into Vic and we have changed our Route and driving East towards Sydney.
The caravan park in Euston is very small and backs onto the Murray. The van park office is also the local post office, newsagency and milkbar. We seem to be the only travellors, the rest are permanent residents.
Cooking dinner.
Looking forward to showers.
