We left Byron Bay and back on the Pacific Highway heading south towards Coffs Harbour. It seems we left the rain behind.
We saw a sign on the highway that said that Emerald Beach was a short drive off the highway. Although we weren't far from Coffs we were all hungry for lunch so we thought we would take this turn off, check out Emerald Beach and have a picnic lunch. It was literally a 3 minute drive from the highway and it was absolutely gorgeous. The surf was a bit rough but what a beautiful view while having our sangers. It was very secluded and I don't think it is ever patrolled. There were quite a few houses there pretty much all overlooking this beach. We considered staying in the carpark overnight but a group of locals had just started congretating on a picnic table beside us. They had a fair bit of alcohol with them and looked like they were in for a big night. So best to head off and stick with our initial plans.
After lunch kids had a play and a stroll along the beach.
We arrived in Coffs later in the afternoon and set up camp for the next 3 days at Park Beach Caravan Park. This park is right across the road from the beach and has lots for the kids to enjoy. There was a pool with slides, tennis court, jumping pillow and a games room.
Had the best fish and chips ever for dinner that night....mmmm
