Today is the first day of winter and the weather forcast is 30 degrees.
We leave Kakadu Lodge and our next destination is Katherine.
On our way out of the national park we unhitch the van and leave it at the ranger station. We are going to check out Gunlom Falls via a 4wd track. These are the only falls open to the public.
The 30km road is heavily corrugated and there are some small river crossings, no bigger than puddles, along the way.
The falls are pretty and are flowing heavily due to the heavy rains.
You are able to walk up to the top of the mountain to a swimable waterhole. The walk is rated hard and we are not in the mood for a strenuous walk today. We came with some friends and they wanted to do the walk. So they went up and we hung around the kiosk and had an early lunch and waited for them to come back down.
Arrived in Katherine late this afternoon. Staying at the highly recommended Low Level camp ground. We booked our Katherine Gorge cruise for tomorrow at 9am.
