DAY 243 - 17/10/2010 - Vale Park, SA

Today is our last day in Adelaide and we chose to spend it in the city visiting Adelaide Zoo.

At the zoo we manage to see the resident pandas, Wang Wang and Funi.

Wang Wang is the more active one, walking around finding his little surprises of food the zookeeper has placed around his enclosure.

Funi decides that she wants to stay indoors asleep on her perch.

So glad we came to see them. They are very cute animals.

We really enjoyed the visit to this zoo and manage to get thru all of it.

A funny shot of a sleeping turtle. See the sign in the top left hand corner of the photo.

Baby Meerkats

We spent the rest of the afternoon driving around the city looking at the beautiful buildings, churches in particular. Adelaide is known for its churches so we couldn't leave without at least looking at some of them.

Adelaide is a beautiful and neat city.....very impressed. Would love to visit it again one day.

DAY 242 - 16/10/2010 - Vale Park, SA

We drove into Glenelg today.

Glenelg is a pretty inner city seaside suburb. Much like Sydney's Bondi. A gorgeous marina, lots of beautiful old houses and its right on the water. All looks very up market.

A visit to Baskin Robins is on the cards and we walk around and window shop for a bit.

We leave Glenelg and take the girls to Adventure Park in St Kilda. This place is amazing and its free for all. There is an awesome playground jam packed with lots of giant slides, a castle with a draw bridge and towers, a shipwreck play ship, maze, tunnels, sea-saws, flying foxes and other cool equipment.

Here are some snap shots of our very fun day at Adventure Park.

These slide come straight off the castle

The girls find a couple of squares of carpet which helps them slide down faster.

A quick play on the pirate ship

We spend 3 hours here and we practically have to drag them away when its time to leave.

A quick trip to Woolys then home for dinner.

DAY 241 - 15/10/2010 - Port Germein, SA & Vale Park, SA

Woken up by the verocious wind at 1am. It was howling all around us. We quickly pulled the awning in and tied down all we could.

Back to bed but not for long.....

A 3am wake up because of the loud wind and heavy rains. It seems to be getting worse. The girls are all up now too as their lid end is sagging badly from the wind and almost pushing it shut.

Back to bed for more zzzzzz

Up at 7am and the winds are still bad and its pouring rain. We've decided we need to get out of here quick sticks. The rain is icey cold, its freezing out there, the vans swaying and loo runs are a massive mission because its flooded outside. We manage to pack everything up and drive off. Other residents think we're mad packing up and driving in this but we need to get out.

The water is over the barrier and almost over the road.

The old saloon and brothel across the road from the jetty.

An old building on the outskirts of Port Germein

Getting out of here

This is what we are leaving behind.

We drive straight to Adelaide and have set up camp 5km out of the city in a suburb called Vale Park. The van park is attractive and clean. The weather has improved and only drizzling on and off.

Must catch up on sleep tonight and be refreshed for tomorrow.
