DAY 133 - 30/06/2010 - Barn Hill Station, WA

Its windy, overcast and it has started to rain a little on and off. We spent all morning eating and watching movies. This weather is perfect for these sort of activities.

By the afternoon it was evident we had to get Lilly out of the van. She was sufferring from cabin fever and going batty. The rain held off a bit and the wind had subsided so we took the girls for a walk along the beach. The sky was a dark stormy purple colour and against the ocean reflected silver, creating an amazing backdrop.

The girls found some caves and created their own rock art. They also found some beautiful shells here to add to their growing collection.

Returning back to camp we were notified that the snake in the laundry had been caught and killed. It turned out to be a King Brown. I'm glad I didn't have any washing to do here because it had settled at the back of the one washing machine they have, poking its head out for a look every now and then.

The wind is blowing a gale tonight so indoors we stay. We finish a trivial persuit game we started last night, declaring Alicia grand champion.

Girls are in bed fast asleep and Waz and I settle down to watch a movie.

DAY 132 - 29/06/2010 - Barn Hill Station, WA

I woke up pretty early before everyone else. It was quite windy today. Had the best sleep last night. I love it here.

I wanted to have a hot shower this morning but then realised the hot water system would not be lit yet so a cold shower it is.

The girls caught up on a lot of school work this morning so we rewarded them with a visit to the beach.

Taylah said a funny thing today. I asked her to put some zinc on her face, which she did. She then turned to Alicia and said "do I look like a dick with all this zinc on my face". I couldn't believe it. I had to explain to her that dick was not a nice word and what it actually meant. She was very embaressed.

We spent the afternoon on the beach. Waz and the girls went in for a swim.

We played beach cricket and then caught up on some reading while the girls played in the sand.

Then back in the water

Early showers and early dinner tonight. Lilly was in bed by 6pm.

Great day, fantastic night and ended it with a boardgame.

DAY 131 - 28/06/2010 - Broome, WA & Barn Hill Station, WA

Packing up seemed to take forever. We finally got it all sorted and it was time to leave. We said our goodbye's to our mates and headed off out of Broome.

At this stage we still didn't know where we were headed next. We had mixed emotions about Barn Hill. Some said go and some said don't. Best to check it out for ourselves, we decided that Barn Hill was our next destination.

Barn Hill Station is situated 10km of unsealed road off the main highway about 120km south of Broome. It is right on the ocean.

We manage to get waterviews. I like it here. The best way to describe it is bush camping by the sea. There are no powered sites left and we cannot connect to a tap. The showers run on a donkey hot water system and are only lit in the afternoon. The toilet/shower block doesn't even have a roof on it so you shower under the stars. The stairs to get down onto the beach is beside our camp site which makes it handy.

We hear there is a snake in the laundry so we steer clear of that area. My washing is up to date anyhow.

We walk down to the beach to watch the sunset and go for a stroll along the beach. It was beautiful. Glad we chose to come here.
